RECEIVING KINDNESS LEADS TO REPENTANCE

God’s goodness, patience, and kindness are meant to lead people to repentance. Through the proclamation of the Gospel, in fulfillment of the Great Commission, we make His goodness known and invite people to turn from their wrong ways and return to Him. Our Heavenly Father is gracious, patient, and generous toward humanity; rather than immediately bringing judgment, He gives people time and opportunities to acknowledge their sins, which Jesus forgives, come to repentance or having renewed minds, and amend their ways (Exo. 34:5–6, 2 Pet. 3:9, 1 John 1:9).
Fear of punishment can cause people to hide their faults and run away from God. Yet, His love and mercy provide an opportunity for repentance, reconciliation, and restoration; for when people confess and forsake their sins, they can draw near to Him and receive His mercy, instead of what humankind deserves (Prov. 28:13). A sincere heart is softened when it recognizes the kindness and unfailing love of the LORD. For His goodness reveals that He desires us to return to Him, not remain separated from Him; as we acknowledge His constant love and mercy, our hearts should respond with gratitude, obedience, and a willingness to change, conforming to His image (Jer. 31:3).

PRAYER: Dear Gracious and Merciful God, Shepherd of my soul, thank You for Your goodness, patience, and loving-kindness, which allow me to turn back whenever Your Word reveals the areas of my life that need to change. Please continue to touch and soften the hearts of those who you've chosen to likewise recognize your voice, as I proclaim the Good News that YHWH Saves, to the World, so that more souls may recognize Your love, turn from their sins, and come to repentance; in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

From Romans 2:4
